Build Your Own Box: let shoppers build a bundle step by step
Build Your Own Box is a new bundle type that walks shoppers through building their own package — choosing a box, picking products, adding a gift card and filling in their own details, one step at a time. You decide what each step contains, set minimum and maximum selections, add a discount or free gift, style the banner and steps to match your store, and watch it all take shape in a live preview. Bundles can be saved as drafts, scheduled with a start and end date, and shown to everyone or only to selected customers.
Why it Matters:
You get full control over the structure, pricing and rules of a bundle while shoppers get a smooth, interactive way to put together exactly the package they want.
- Improved
Volume bundles and cross-sell discounts now set up reliably on every store
On some stores, publishing a volume bundle failed with a "Could not create discount" message, and the cross-sell bundle discount was not created when the app was installed. Both now go through as expected.
Why it Matters:
Your bundles publish on the first attempt and the discounts behind them are in place from the moment you install, so offers go live when you set them up rather than stalling on an error.
- Improved
Full-page bundles now appear on every theme
On some themes the full-page Mix and Match layout showed nothing at all — the bundle area was simply blank. The bundle now falls back to another place on the page when a theme is built differently, so it is visible wherever you publish it.
Why it Matters:
A published bundle that does not render is a bundle nobody can buy. Shoppers on any theme can now see and use it.
- Improved
Choose whether a Mix and Match bundle gets its own product page
When creating a single-product Mix and Match bundle you can now decide, for each bundle, whether it becomes a new product of its own or is shown inside a product you already sell. Switch it on to give the bundle a dedicated page with its own description and images, or leave it off to keep your catalogue tidy. Discounted bundles now also display the pre-discount price struck through on the storefront.
Why it Matters:
You can set bundles up to suit how your store is organised — a dedicated bundle page where you want one, no extra catalogue clutter where you don't. The struck-through price also makes the saving visible at the moment a shopper is deciding.
- Improved
Sold-out Mix and Match products no longer lose their inventory tracking
When a single-product Mix and Match bundle was fully sold out, simply opening its product page could switch every variant of your real product to "Don't track inventory" — with no warning and nothing you had done. That no longer happens.
Why it Matters:
Inventory tracking is what keeps your stock counts honest, so having it switched off in the background was a real risk to your store. Your inventory settings now stay exactly as you set them, however often a sold-out bundle page is viewed.
- Improved
Mix and Match bundles now show an accurate price range
Multi-product Mix and Match bundle pages now show a "From $X – $Y" price range based on the pack sizes you have set up, instead of a single flat price that did not match what shoppers would pay. Editing a pack price updates the storefront price as soon as you save, and if the prices of the products you picked change in Shopify, the bundle edit screen offers a one-click Sync Prices. The side layout also now uses the full width of the page.
Why it Matters:
Shoppers see a price that reflects what they will actually pay before they choose anything, which protects their trust in your store and avoids the pricing surprise that sends people away from the cart.
- Improved
Faster dashboard loading
The dashboard card showing your App Embed status and active app blocks now reads that information directly from Shopify instead of downloading and reading through your theme files on every visit. The card shows the same thing, with less work behind it.
Why it Matters:
The dashboard opens faster, and your embed status is reported more reliably on unusual or heavily customised themes.
- Improved
Sold-out Mix & Match products no longer lose inventory tracking
When every variant of a Mix & Match Single Product bundle was sold out, opening that product page on your storefront silently switched all of its variants to "Don't track inventory" in Shopify. That no longer happens, and your inventory settings stay exactly as you set them.
Why it Matters:
This changed real settings on your products with no warning and no action from you. Once tracking was off, stock levels stopped updating — including for shoppers buying that product outside the bundle.
- Improved
Large Volume Bundles now save reliably
Creating a Volume Bundle with a large number of products or pricing tiers could fail when you saved it, and the bundle was lost. Volume Bundles now save correctly no matter how many products and tiers they contain.
Why it Matters:
If you run wide tier ladders or bundle across a large catalogue, your setup work no longer disappears at the point of saving.
- Improved
Duplicating a Mix & Match bundle now copies everything
Duplicating a Mix & Match bundle could fail outright on Single Product bundles, and on Multi Product bundles the copy lost every variant selection and was never published to your online store. Duplicates now carry all settings and variant choices across and publish to the same sales channels as the original. Deleting, activating or deactivating a bundle whose Shopify product had been removed by hand also completes cleanly instead of getting stuck.
Why it Matters:
Duplicating is how most merchants create their second and third bundle. It now gives you a working copy to edit rather than one you have to rebuild from scratch.
- Improved
Choose whether a Mix & Match bundle creates its own product
Mix & Match Single Product bundles now have a "Create a new product" toggle. Leave it on to publish a dedicated bundle product, or switch it off to show the bundle inside a product you already sell. Bundles whose pack prices differ now display Shopify's native "From $X – $Y" price range, and discounted bundles show the original price struck through so the saving is visible. The mode is fixed once the bundle is created.
Why it Matters:
You can keep your catalogue clean by building the bundle into an existing product, or give it a product page of its own — whichever suits how your store is set up. Either way shoppers see an accurate price before they choose anything.
- Improved
Build Your Own Box bundles now expand correctly at checkout
A Build Your Own Box bundle added to the cart stayed as a single un-expanded line at checkout, and the discount you had configured was never applied. Boxes now split into their individual products at checkout, each priced correctly, with the bundle discount applied.
Why it Matters:
Customers were reaching checkout without the discount they had been shown, and the resulting order didn't record which products were actually in the box.
- Improved
Build Your Own Box bundles
PushBundle now includes Build Your Own Box — a step-by-step builder where shoppers choose products, pick a box, add a gift card and fill in their own personal details to assemble a package. You control every step: which products are offered, minimum and maximum quantities, which steps are required, box wrapping and design uploads, custom form fields, plus discounts, styling and scheduling. Boxes work on the Dawn and Horizon themes, respect per-variant inventory, and expand into their individual products at checkout.
Why it Matters:
Gift, hamper and subscription-style brands can now sell a personalised box without building a custom page for it. Because the box expands into real line items at checkout, your stock counts and sales reports stay accurate.
- Improved
Bundles now appear correctly on the Horizon theme
On Shopify's Horizon theme, a Mix & Match product page could end up with no way to buy at all — neither the bundle picker nor the theme's own add-to-cart form appeared — when the bundle app block hadn't been added to the product template. Bundles now display on Horizon without that extra setup step. Cross-Sell and Volume bundles were affected in the same way and are fixed too.
Why it Matters:
On an affected page a shopper couldn't buy the product at all, and nothing on the page suggested anything was wrong.
- Improved
Duplicated Volume Bundles now work on the storefront
Duplicating a Volume Bundle sent you to a page that didn't exist, and the copy never appeared on your product pages even though Shopify showed it as active. Its discount also didn't combine with your product discounts the way the original did. Duplicates now open on the edit page, go live on the storefront, and behave exactly like the bundle they were copied from.
Why it Matters:
A duplicated bundle looked active in Shopify while quietly selling nothing, which is the hardest kind of problem to notice.
